Big thanks to Dr. Boland for introducing me to the LED growlight. This is the Sunshine Systems GlowPanel 45.
From their website http://shop.sunshine-systems.com :
The energy saving GlowPanel 45™ uses only 45 Watts of power and surpasses the output of a 250 Watt HPS. More than four times as intense as our original GlowPanel™, the GlowPanel 45™ covers five square feet. Glow Your Own™ with a GlowPanel 45™

"Glow Your Own"--that's snappy. Included in my shipment was a flyer advertising two promotional offers. One was for 10% off purchases of $300 or more (promotional code "SunSys300"). The other was for free shipping on domestic orders of $100 or more (promotional code "SunSysFree").

The flora featured in above pic is contained in two window boxes which I purchased a week ago. Turns out I was a bit too early because we have had cold, rainy weather for the past week straight and I have not been able to set them outside yet. The growlight came just in time to save my beauties.

I have purchased two large plastic storage bins to house my garden and I am scouting material (hopefully discarded water cooler bottles) to fabricate my own Earth boxes. Hopefully this will sufficiently "cat-proof" my project. Time will tell.

I plan to start with beans and greens because this is memetically sound. I welcome any suggestions as to what plants do well in this sort of environment as well as any pitfalls I may encounter.

Excellent setup, man! Too many people seem to be stuck in the "a garden means a big plot in the yard" mentality, when in reality, we are limited only by the scope of our imaginations. Definitely keep us posted on how your plants turn out - I'm always interested in that kind of data.
